Esportivo teria melhorias no motor para render 223 cv

Enquanto no Brasil ainda convivemos com um Golf reestilizado da quarta geração, os europeus já começam a pensar em mudanças no Golf GTI.
O esportivo – que está em sua sexta geração no Velho Continente – deve ganhar melhorias no motor 2.0 TSI, que entrega 210 cv. Segundo o site da revista Autocar, com as mudanças, o propulsor deve passar a entregar 223 cv. Além da cavalaria extra, a VW também estaria preparando um novo sistema de bloqueio eletrônico do diferencial nas versões GTI e R, aprimorando a estabilidade do hatch.
Mas as novidades não param por aí. Ainda segundo a Autocar, a montadora alemã estaria pronta para autorizar a produção do Golf R Cabrio. O conversível teria um motor 2.0 com turbocompressor, com potência estimada em 270 cv e torque máximo de 35,69 mkgf. A aceleração de 0 a 100 km/h seria realizada em menos de seis segundos, sendo que o bólido chegaria à velocidade final de 250 km/h.

Carro deve ganhar o mesmo motor do "Golf R"

A Volkswagen estuda a possibilidade de alterar o motor do Beetle R. O carro pode, em breve, ganhar a poderosa versão 2.0 litros TFSI com 200 hp de potência e 35,7 kgfm de torque utilizada pelo Golf R.

Na Alemanha, outra motorização que também deve estrear ainda esse ano é a 2.0 litros com 200 cv. Nesta versão, o carro faz de zero a 100 km/h em 7,5 segundos, gastando apenas 0,1 l/km de combustível. O preço de entrada desse Beetle será de 27.100 euros - cerca de 59.600 reais.

Para investir no designer, a VW comprou a empresa Giugiaro Giorgietto e fará um investimento 51,6 bilhões de euros - cerca de 113.5 bilhões de reais, até 2015.

A expectativa dos fãs da Volkswagen era que a marca começasse a produzir o novo Polo no Brasil. Mas não será desta vez que o hatchback será vendido aqui. Ao invés disso, a montadora preferiu atualizar o visual do Polo, seguindo a mesma receita adotada na África do Sul.

As maiores mudanças foram feitas na frente, com nova grade e para-choque redesenhado. A inspiração veio dos lançamentos mais recentes da VW - incluindo o Polo europeu -, embora o carro preserve as linhas de seu antecessor. Atrás, as lanternas do hatch agora são escurecidas e o sedã teve as lentes tingidas de vermelho. Em ambos, o para-choque foi redesenhado e ganhou a companhia de duas luzes reflexivas - conhecidas popularmente como "olhos de gato". Algumas versões, como a Sportline, possuem detalhes visuais, como faixas decorativas nas laterais.

Outra novidade é que todas as outras versões da linha Polo (Hatch e Sedan) passam a oferecer, de série, direção hidráulica, ar-condicionado e destravamento interno da tampa traseira. Airbag duplo, sensor de estacionamento traseiro e freios com sistema anti-travamento (ABS) também equipam o modelo de fábrica. No sedã, o teto solar pode equipar todas as versões.

As alterações na linha 2012 foram tão sutis que a VW preferiu não mexer muito na gama de versões. A versão 2.0 GT foi substituída pela 2.0 Sportline, enquanto que a versão 1.6 E-Flex - que não tinha o tanque de gasolina para partida a frio - sai de cena. Sua tecnologia foi incorporada pela empresa na versão Bluemotion, concebida priorizando a economia de combustível.

O motor são os conhecidos 1.6 e 2.0, que entregam até 103 cv e 120 cv, respectivamente. A transmissão automatizada I-Motion também permanece como opção nas versões com propulsor de 1,6 litro.

Os preços da versão hatch começam em R$ 44.390, no modelo com motor 1.6, e vão até R$ 54.790 na versão Sportline 2.0. Já o Polo Sedan custa R$ 47.770 na versão de entrada com motor 1.6 e vai até R$ 57.330 reais na versão Comfortline 2.0.

Some cars are like a good hamburger. Too many add-ons keep you from getting the true flavor.

Volkswagen may or may not have been thinking of that metaphor (I'll bet not) when they re-christened the Golf the Rabbit here in the U.S. and re-positioned it as more basic transportation.

If you have never driven a Rabbit, go to your local dealer now, because this is where a chunk of the automobile business is heading...to cars the Europeans were embracing while we were in our SUV-induced coma.

Ford hasn't brought its Euro-spec Fiesta and Focus to our shores yet, but like GM's import, the Saturn Astra , the Rabbit is all about strong, solid German engineering. Everything, from major maneuvers to subtle switchgear, is precise. Not too soft, not too hard. Exactly right.

VW's press fleet loaned us an example with only four options...a six-speed automatic transmission, electronic stabilization, 16" alloy wheels and an iPod adaptor in the armrest. We'd have passed on the automatic (which would have saved $1075), but even so, the bottom line was only $18,524 (from a base of $15,600). You could easily buy two Rabbits for less than the price of some cars that simply aren't as good.

And though gas prices are easing compared to where they were in July, it's still three bucks a gallon or more...so 21 city and 29 highway miles per gallon is nothing to sneeze at, either.
